R is for Reading miles

At Clee Hill Community Academy we travel around the virtual world every half term as part of our Reading Miles Challenges. Every child is expected to read at least 5 times a week in order to collect the reading miles needed for the journey.

The challenge is split into six journeys, each of which finishes in a ‘checkpoint country’. A wall map of the world charting the Reading Miles Global Challenge route can be found on the reading miles display along with photos and work completed on the special reading miles days.

Children come to school in the countries traditional dress, or the colours of the country’s flag and activities throughout the day include celebrating reading and creative lessons linked to that particular country.
